#MusicMay | Update (22/31)

It may have been a bit ambitious of me to do 31 consecutive days of album reviews, especially when I have other things happening in real life that take priority over my blog. Towards the end of the month, I experienced a burn out that brought #MisfitMusicMay to a sudden a halt on day 22, which is still amazing that I was able to push myself do that many. Now more than ever, I have way more respect for music bloggers, because there is so much work goes into one review, which is something I should have known. I may decide continue the 31 days into June, but I'm not quite sure at the moment. For now, I think I deserve a break and give myself a chance to really enjoy the music I've been listening to without analyzing and pulling it apart for the sake of a thorough critique.

At first I felt a sense of defeat, almost to the point of self-sabotage, because here I am promising one thing and delivering another. (Yes, it was really that serious to me.) Then I realized that the only person who had this super high expectation to complete this challenge-without stopping or taking a break-was me. In order to replace the disappointment, I had to remember how fun it was for me, despite the sleepless nights trying to make sure everything was perfect according to my standards and considerable amount of work put into writing each post. There were moments when I'd become happily nostalgic as I sorted through my collection, spending hours listening to albums I hadn't heard in years. Not only was I able to capture and share pieces of childhood through music, but was also in the creative mind space to be able to write out unbiased audits of some pretty praiseworthy albums, both new and old.

I appreciate those of you who took the time to interact with me via Twitter, telling me your thoughts, giving me positive feedback, offering encouragement, sharing with your followers, etc. It honestly inspired me to complete as many reviews as possible. Because all the love and support meant so much to me, I am currently brainstorming some kind of small, yet significant way to show my appreciation. I was even introduced me to a few bloggers who I look forward to exchanging ideas and connecting with in the future.

In case you missed it, here are the archives from #MusicMay for you to check out.

Day 14 | Sept 5th - dvsn
Day 20 | Sound & Color - Alabama Shakes
Day 22 | Chapters - Yuna

Ps-In the comment section (or via Twitter), let me know  if you think I should extend/complete the challenge next month. Also, let me know if there is a particular album you'd like me to review and I'll take both into consideration when deciding whether or not I greet the summer season with 2 reviews per week in the month of June.
